I’d like to share some of my experiences with getting a driver’s license as the first chapter of this section. There are several reasons for this. First, having a photo ID is very important for international students who have just arrived in Canada. Second, having a driver’s license makes getting around much more convenient.
Booking the Exam: You can then book your written exam. Just follow the online steps and choose a convenient time and ICBC
Exam Preparation: We used the 362 questions on the website (we went through them about two or three times). Just Google “2024BC driving license exam written test” and it’s the first result (this website often has ads, which is annoying). Then we used the ICBC App to practice regularly (this only has 25 questions each time, and there are often repeated questions). 95% of the questions on the final exam were covered. There might be 1-2 questions you’d never seen before, but they were easy-to-understand common sense questions
Exam: 🌟Before the Exam: On the day of the exam, bring your domestic driver’s license, visa, and two photo IDs. Arrive at the ICBC location 15 minutes early and take a number. When your number is called, they will ask if you have been in the US for more than 90 days. If you have, they will take your domestic driver’s license. After she prints out all the documents, she’ll take a photo (the staff said it won’t be used anywhere, so don’t worry about it looking bad). Then she’ll tell you which machine you’ll be taking the test on, and you can go take it. After the test, just wait for your name to be called. 🌟During the test: Skip any questions you’re unsure about. There’s no limit to the number of questions you can skip. If you’ve answered 40 questions correctly before the skipped questions come up, congratulations, you won’t see those unsure questions again. If you haven’t answered 40 questions correctly before seeing those unsure questions, they’ll come back again until you’ve answered 40 correctly, at which point the machine will automatically stop the test. 🌟After the test: After the test, wait for the staff to call your name for the vision test. I didn’t understand what he meant by asking me to find the moving light spot; it took me a while to understand. After completing all the tests, you just need to sign and receive the yellow paper. The temporary driver’s license is valid for one year. Within one year, you need to pass the road test to get your final, official driver’s license.
